Suffolk County Injury Lawyer – Our Practice Areas
We represent clients in Smithtown, Suffolk County, and the surrounding towns who have been injured as the result of the negligent or wrongful acts of others, and the families who have lost a loved one. The injury areas in which we provide representation include:
- Can Accidents, Truck Accidents, and Other Vehicle accidents
- Slips, trips, and falls,
- Construction injuries,
- Dog bites,
- Motorcycle accidents,
- Commercial truck accidents,
- Pedestrian accidents,
- Bicycle accidents, and
- Other injury accidents.
The above is a list of some of the more frequent types of injury cases that we handle. In addition to these areas, we also handle almost all other types of injury cases in which a person has been harmed due to the wrongful or negligent actions of others.
Our Wrongful Death Practice
In addition to representing injured clients, we also represent the families who have lost a loved one due to the negligent or wrongful actions of others in wrongful death cases. In wrongful death cases, it is critical to have experienced legal counsel, as the family and survivors will have only one opportunity to fully recover for all damages, lost wages, and other compensation.
In a wrongful death case, we will seek full compensation for:
- Lost wages that would have otherwise been earned if the person was currently working,
- Expenses incurred, such as medical and funeral expenses
- In the case of a person who left a spouse, children, or parents, we will seek full compensation to the extent allowed for loss of consortium on behalf of such survivors (this is the loss from being deprived of affection and guidance that would have been provided by the decedent),
- Other damages that may be allowed under law.
Wrongful death damages in particular often require experts to calculate lost wages and other compensation that may be due. For instance, if a person was in their 30’s when they were killed, experts would need to determine how much future income the decedent would have earned over the remainder of their career, taking into account matters such as salary or wage increases, promotions, bonuses, and other benefits. Our role is to prove such damages to a jury so that the survivors can get the full amount to which they are entitled.
